YS Dual Mode Dynamics
26 MB
YS‑Dual‑Mode Dynamics is a dynamics audio processing plugin with a flexible choice of detection modes (peak/RMS) and detector connection schemes (direct/with feedback). It supports upward/downward compression, parallel blending of linear and exponential curves (Blend), an expander, a soft clipper on the detector, and a hard limiter on the output. It includes a dual release with module balance adjustment, detector filtering, an external sidechain, oversampling, and advanced visualization tools (VU meters, tooltips, interface customization)
Compression Character: Clean and Analog
YS‑Dual‑Mode Dynamics can sound both transparent and “warm,” depending on the selected settings, providing flexibility for a variety of mixing tasks.
*Clean, modern character*
Resulting from these settings:
peak detector – clearly captures transients;
direct connection of the detector (without feedback) – gives a predictable, linear response;
Soft, Sat and expander are disabled – minimum coloring;
moderate Ratio (2:1–4:1) with a soft knee – smooths out peaks without noticeable interference;
A quick release or double release with an emphasis on a short module preserves the attack of the instruments.
In this mode, the compressor operates in a highly neutral manner: it evens out dynamics without adding its own “personality” to the signal. This is convenient for precise peak control on the master bus, for drums, or in situations where processing transparency is important. —
*Analog, “warm” character*
Similar to classic Vari-mu and vintage console compressors in the following combinations:
RMS detector + feedback connection – compression becomes more musical, “breathing”, with natural inertia;
Soft on (soft clipper on the detector, 2–6 dB) – simulates the behavior of tube circuits: peaks are gently rounded off rather than cut off;
Blend with a slight boost to quiet sections and Sat (second harmonic 50–500 Hz) – adds pleasant density and harmonic richness, especially on bass and vocals;
A slower release (Medium–Long) or a double release in a 50–50% ratio creates the “gluing” effect of the mix typical of analog circuits.
This mode is prized for its “analog” smoothness: the compressor doesn’t just reduce peaks, but adds character to the signal, making it denser and warmer, while maintaining a natural sound. — By separating these capabilities in a single plugin, you can quickly switch between “sterile” precision and vintage coloring—and even mix them using Blend and dual release to achieve your own signature compression flavor.
