Timetravel

31 MB

Every echo arrives backwards
TIMETRAVEL is a free reverse delay built on a measured model of our favorite out-of-stock reverse pedal- with a fixed slab of RAM and a 10-bit converter. Whatever you play is captured, flipped and played back once, in reverse. At the default 50% mix it’s the classic sound of a ghost answering you. One knob, CLOCK, decides how far back it reaches, how clean it sounds and how dark it gets, just like the hardware.

Four knobs · one button
MIX – equal-power dry/wet. 0% is all dry, 100% is all reversed, 50% is the ghost blend.
CLOCK – the converter’s sample rate, 3.2-18.1 kHz. Because the memory is fixed, one turn sets three things: the reverse window (~2.4 s at the bottom, ~0.4 s at the top), the fidelity (bright and clean up high, dark and gritty down low) and a filter that closes as you pull it back. The audio glides to the new setting over ~5 s, so riding it mid-phrase gives you the pedal’s tape-warble pitch smear.
SPEED – true varispeed for the reversed signal, -12 to +12 semitones in 25 detents. +12 is an octave up at double speed, -12 an octave down at half. Hops glide instead of click, and it automates cleanly in key.
VOLUME – output from -40 to +6 dB. All the way down reads OFF.
BYPASS – hard bypass. The dry signal passes untouched and the block dims.
Drag any knob vertically · double-click to reset · right-click for 1× / 2× / 3× window size.

A Classic Reverse pedal, imperfectly perfect
TIMETRAVEL, right view
A 10-bit converter behind a soft-clip front end. No input anti-aliasing, so bright sources fizz like they do on the real thing. A reconstruction filter that tracks the clock, a faint hiss floor and a slight wander in the clock itself. About 13% of the material, the bits near a window junction, plays twice, a window apart. The wet signal runs ~1.5 dB hotter than the dry. All of it is the pedal, so all of it stays.
