YS Velvet Box is a compact plugin for sound processing, can be used both for the master bus and individually on tracks. For a small “box” has quite a lot of functions. Soft clipper with threshold adjustment 0-6 dB and hard limiter peaks -0.01 dB, FLUX- creates a small difference between the left and right channels randomly to the tempo of the project, eliminating static in perception.

Monster Crab Clipper is the perfect Mastering Soft Clipper for your track.

Using peak clipping, Monster Crab Clipper provides another option of getting transparent loudness during the mastering stage, before the final limiting process. Other than dynamics, Monster Crab Clipper also adds pleasant harmonic distortion, giving the track more warmth, personality and depth. Use it to your advantage and be creative!

Monster Crab Clipper features 2 main knobs: “Gain” controls the input volume, while “Output” controls the output volume after the clipping has been applied. Another 2 smaller knobs are added to allow more control: “Slope” changes how soft/hard the clipper is, while “Oversample” is used to give a cleaner signal with less aliasing. When “Oversample” is turned on, you may turn down the output knob in order to compensate to the loudness increase due to more sonic detail added to the sound.

Initial Clipper is a soft clipper which prevents your audio signal from going above zero decibels.  

It does this by smoothing the peaks with soft clipping starting from the threshold. The faster and higher the peaks the more you need to bring down the threshold to get a pleasing sound.  Initial Clipper comes with a very handy (and cool looking) peak display. Any peaks that enter the threshold area will have soft clipping applied, hence smoothing them out and taming the loudness.

We also added extra saturation. Because who doesn’t want more saturation!? The positive and negative saturation parameters allow you to add extra harmonic and non-harmonic saturation to your audio signal, this will create that extra fatness and warmth to your sound. Be aware this saturation will decrease your mixes dynamic range as it applies to the whole signal and not just the peaks.

Using a soft clipper on the master channel is very common, therefore we have added an industry standard LUFS (Integrated) Meter so you immediately know how loud your mix is.
