anyFM is an effect that fm-modulates a sidechained signal onto a carrier signal.

For that, it naturally must be placed on a mixer track that has another track routed to it via sidechain.

You’ll thus need two sounds, the track anyFM is inserted on acts as the carrier and the sidechained track is used as the FM modulator.

The controls are mostly self-explanatory:

Modulation Rate controls the FM depth/strength,

the remaining knobs handle volume balance.

In addition to FM, you can also switch to Ring Modulation.

IMPORTANT!!!

Make sure your routing is set up correctly.

Incorrect routing can result in unintended behavior, most prominently self-FM, where you in fact modulate the carrier with itself and not with the sidechain.

FOR ACTUAL FM OF THE SIDECHAIN INPUT AS MODULATOR, YOU MUST SET THE INPUTS LIKE THIS, AS EXPLAINED FOR FL STUDIO (I also include a video for these steps in the download):

Insert anyFM on a mixer track.

Route another mixer track to this track and set it to Sidechain:

At the bottom of the mixer, select the track you want to use as the modulator.

Click the small upward arrow to sidechain it.

Turn the send volume down to 0 for a pure sidechain signal.

(Optional) Unlink the sidechain track from the Master to make it behave like a true FM modulator, similar to an FM synth.

THEN, THIS IS THE IMPORTANT PART TO MAKE IT WORK: Open the plugin wrapper settings (the cog icon above the plugin GUI), go to Processing, and click Auto map inputs.

Now anyFM is live and waits for sound input on both channels.

Not a true reversed recording. Multiple delay taps play back with rising gain, so sound appears to rise in volume backwards. Psychedelic, ethereal effect. Ready to be used at 100% wet mix setting.

Granulate is a Granulator VST Plugin (and Standalone .exe) modelled after a famous Granulator plugin from a certain DAW, but in a version that is not available anymore. It focuses on the basic elements that any granulator should have: A sample playback engine with choosable amounts of grains, their position, their spread around an interval and their duration. You can either press a MIDI note for resampling, or click on the loaded waveform to hear the sound grains around the position you click.

Version 1.1 improves file loading safety. The new version requires a bit more CPU, but with it you can now load audio files that are up to 3 hours long (albeit everything longer than 1 hour is experimental since then the memory required will be in the low gigabyte range instead of a few megabytes for shorter files). The earlier version 1.0 is still provided in the download but WILL CRASH YOUR DAW when you load any file longer than 5 minutes (and probably less than that in some cases, like file format etc.).

Please note (haha) that only clicking a part of the waveform is intended, when you click and drag the mouse it still works but you will hear some crackle sounds while moving (which are not too loud though).

A visual representation of the grains as small playback heads is also provided.

Load Sample: Opens a file browser to import a supported audio file.

Waveform Display: Visualizes the sample and allows you to click or drag to set the playback position.

Grains: Controls the number or density of grains playing simultaneously.

Size: Sets the duration of each individual audio grain.

Position: Selects the point in the sample buffer where grains are currently being grabbed from.

Spray: Adds random variation to the playback position to create a wider texture.

Window: Defines the width of the playable area around the current position cursor.

G-ADSR: Attack / Decay / Sustain / Release. Shapes the volume envelope of each individual grain.

N-ADSR: Shapes the volume envelope of the overall MIDI note.

AM: Applies amplitude modulation to the grains.

AM Disp: Adds random variation to the amplitude modulation.

Pitch Disp: Adds random pitch variation to the grains.

Pitch (Mouse): Manually changes the playback pitch offset for the mouse click mode.

Stereo: Randomizes the panning of grains to widen the stereo image.

Volume: Controls the master output level of the plugin.

A slight pitch detune on one side and an uptune on the other, will add depth and character to the sound.
More extreme settings will result in a chaotic dissonance.

Adjust the Delay, Feedback and Mix controls, to set how much Reverse Delay is mixed into the signal.
Longer delays and higher feedback settings will work best with single sustained notes.
For chords and faster played sections, try using 1/8 or 1/4 Delays, with a lower Mix level.
