Glitch Percussion Synthesizer. Ephemere is a percussion synthesizer that includes twelve sound generation engines assigned to each note of an octave. The sounds are generated using FM synthesis and can be further sculpted using a multi mode filter and two simple yet flexible envelope generators.

Ephemere makes it easy to add variety to your rhythmic patterns by attaching a randomization setting to most of the synthesis parameters as well as a trigger probability per sound. By keeping the synthesis engine simple yet powerful and providing extensive randomization options, Ephemere is an invaluable tool to very quickly design custom synthetic percussion sounds.

FM12 is an easy-to-use 12-operator PM/FM synthesizer featuring a flexible modulation matrix and integrated stereo chorus for complex sound design. The source code is written in JUCE, and you can compile it freely for Windows Mac and Linux. I provide a .vst3 and standalone .exe for Windows in the download as I only have a Windows machine.

I intentionally kept it as simple as possible. Each operator has ADSR, Volume, FM Ratio and Phase. When you load up the plugin, all Volumes are off and you therefore don’t hear any sound by default – simply turn up the volume knobs of the operators you want to hear.

A 12 x 12 Modulation Matrix lets you freely choose from where you want to send signals. The sound comes from the “row” index, and goes into the “column” index. Meaning that if you enable the box on the second row, first column, then operator 2 sends its signal into operator 1. An operator acts as a carrier (sound output) if its matrix row is empty, otherwise it modulates other operators.

The screenshot shows an older version where preset saving and loading was not yet implemented, this is now possible in the newest version 1.1 (both versions are included in the download).

I also implemented a matrix randomization button. This randomizes the modulator assignments for operators 2 to 12 – operator 1 is deliberately not included so it can always be a carrier and you at least always hear its output after each random trigger.

Next to the “classic” FM mode (which in fact is phase modulation) you are probably familiar with if you found this plugin, you can also toggle “real” FM mode, which sounds like the ADSRs control the FM Ratio instead of the volume, hence the name “ADSR FM” for this mode.

You can do whatever you like with the source code, except for selling it unaltered. I have used AIs to help me code the plugin, if that matters to you. It has some optimizations built in, however it can be quite CPU hungry at many voices!

FB-02 is a software instrument for Microsoft Windows (VST2/VST3/CLAP/AAX) and Apple macOS (VST2/VST3/CLAP/AU/AAX) simulating the sound generation part of the classic Yamaha FB-01 module from 1986. It is written in native C++ code for high performance even on “lighter” systems. Main features are:

Magical 8bit Plug 2 is a software-synthesizer developed by Yokemura@YMCK which generates primitive electronic sounds like the old 8bit game consoles. It can be used as a plug-in for the host applications that support Audio Units or VST.

Magical 8bit Plug 2 can produce the 8bit-specific sounds, namely pseudo triangle and low resolution noise, that are hard to reproduce with ordinary synthesizers. And on top of that it implements precise controls for 8bit-style expressions like pseudo polyphony, duty envelope etc.

Magical 8bit Plug 2 is technically distinct from the previous one(Magical 8bit Plug), so you can install both and keep using them separately.

Pulse: Rectangular Waves The simplest waveforms which can be generated only by switching high/low voltages. You can get different timbres by varying the time ratio between high and low states.

Triangle: Pseudo Triangle Wave The waveform which is intended to form a triangle but actually results like a stepladder because of the limited capability of the console. The unique high frequence noise is best for reproducing the distinct 8bit taste.

Noise: Low-bit Noise The random waveform. Like the Pseido Triangle above, this noise waveform is also jaggy and it results in a unique 8bit taste. The previous version had Magical 8bit Plug original “4bit Pure Random noise” which is formed with randomly generated 4 levels of voltage, and this version inherits it. On top of that the new version has more exact real console emulation: 1bit Short Cycle/1bit Long Cycle waveforms. These waveforms only have high and low voltage control and randomization is pseudo-random, which makes it sound rougher and adds some sort of tonality.

Vertex is a Max for Live sequenced synth influenced by the Moog DFAM, but with plenty of extras to take it into new sonic terrain.

No-nonsense FM Synth

Pivot-Lite is a smaller version of Pivot with two operators, one morphing filter and zero cash. It’s a great way to dip your toes into FM synthesis with its simple structure but still almost all the bells and whistles from its bigger sibling. It may not have a mod matrix, but it has a lot of love to give. Once you’re ready to take the leap, sounds made in the Lite version can be loaded into Pivot as well.

Together they form the perfect pair for FM exploration and we think you’ll find yourself reaching for one or the other depending on the occasion.
